    CARMEN

A common sinner, Carmen, you've arrived,

Amid the happy tears, your storm unfurled.

Love's waterfall, the very flame of life,

You're—pain and angst. It's thus we feel the world.

Can't see: a whore? An angel from above?

To praise or scold the daring gaze unveiled?

Free, like a bird, in your domain of love.

You're no one's pair. You're—heat and sudden hail.
